Southwest Turkey Burgers

Ingredients

1 lb ground turkey

2 tablespoon SideDish Southwest
-
1 small jalapeño, seeds/stem removed and finely diced
- ¼ cup finely diced red onionÂ

1 teaspoon kosher salt

½ teaspoon pepper
-
2 tablespoons avocado oil, for cooking

Sliced pepper jack cheese (omit for dairy-free)

1 avocado, thinly sliced
-
2 tablespoons mayo
-
2 tablespoons SideDish Southwest
-
Sesame seed bun (sub gluten-free bun or serve in lettuce wrap for grain-free)

Shredded lettuce

Sliced tomato

Method
In a medium bowl, mix together the Turkey, SideDish Southwest, jalapeño, red onion, salt and pepper until just combined. Form into 4-equal-sized patties.
- Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. When hot, carefully place the patties into the oil and cook until golden brown on each side and cooked through, about 4 minutes per side.
Turn off the heat and place 2 to 3 slices of avocado on top of each patty. Then place a slice of pepper jack cheese over the sliced avocado. Cover the skillet to allow the cheese to just melt, about 3 to 4 more minutes.
Serve on buns with lettuce, tomato and a spread of the creamy southwest! Alternatively, these patties are delicious served on top of a salad, or wrapped with lettuce leaves!
