Tender Oven-Baked BBQ Ribs

Ingredients

  • 2 racks baby back ribs

  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil

  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard

  • 1 ยฝ teaspoons kosher salt

  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper

  • 3 tablespoons meat rub (I use Dalkin&Co Meat)

  • 1 bottle SideDish Uncle Ronnyโ€™s BBQ Sauce

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 275ยฐF. Line a large sheet pan with foil for easy cleanup.

  2. If the ribs still have the thin membrane on the back, remove itโ€”it can get tough when cooked. (I usually ask my butcher to do this.) If doing it yourself, place the ribs meaty-side down. Gently slide a paring knife under the corner of the membrane to loosen it, then pull it off with your fingers (a paper towel helps with grip if it's slippery).

  3. Pat the ribs dry on both sides. Drizzle with avocado oil and the mustard and brush to coat evenly. Season all over with salt, pepper, and meat rub, pressing the seasoning into the ribs so it adheres well.

  4. Place the ribs meat-side up on the prepared sheet pan. Cover tightly with another sheet of foil and bake for 2 to 2ยฝ hours, depending on how meaty your ribs are. They should be tender and cooked through, but still hold together.

  5. Remove ribs from the oven and increase the temperature to 325ยฐF. Uncover the ribs and brush the tops generously with about โ…“ cup of SideDish Uncle Ronnyโ€™s BBQ Sauce. Return to the oven, uncovered, and bake for 20 minutes.

  6. Brush with another โ…“ cup of BBQ sauce, then broil for 3โ€“4 minutes, until the top is caramelized and a sticky crust forms. Watch closely so they donโ€™t burn!

  7. Slice and serve with the remaining BBQ sauce on the side.
