When it comes to dressings, dips, and sauces, we’re out to prove that you can have it both ways: nutritious AND delicious.
Though they may taste great, most classic dressings use some combination of over-processed seed oils, gluten, dairy, preservatives, and refined sugar along with other unnecessary (and potentially harmful) ingredients. And most ‘healthy’ dressings, though they may use cleaner ingredients overall, just don’t taste very good — while still (!) using over-processed seed oils.
That’s a problem. Over-processed seed oils — such as the “hateful eight” of canola, corn, cottonseed, grapeseed, rice bran, safflower, soy, and sunflower oil — contain high levels of an omega-6 fatty acid called linoleic acid, an unstable polyunsaturated fat that can increase inflammation, oxidative stress, and the risk of developing diabetes, autoimmune diseases, heart disease, and even Alzheimer’s.
Sure, over-processed seed oils are cheaper and more convenient in the short term. But we believe that using healthy, high-quality ingredients is worth the cost, especially if it doesn’t mean sacrificing flavor.
In fact, apart from toasted sesame oil (a unique, minimally processed seed oil that’s both an anti-inflammatory and an antioxidant), we don’t use seed oils at all. Just 100% heart-healthy avocado oil.
